A series of artist books utilizing the unique characteristics of various book structures in order to create different readings of the poem "Late Fragment" by Raymond Carver.
Book 1: The goal of this book was to create and emphasize the a setting for the poem and contrast this setting with the fleeting nature of a human life. The structure is a modified flag book. The imagery was created using gouache paint. The text was created with stamps and pigment inks. The book was created in January of 2021 at the University of Alabama. 1/1
Book 2: The goal of this book was to emphasize the theme of connection with other living things by placing the text as if emerging from several layers of foliage. This book is a one-page zine with covered boards. The content was created using pochoir and a hand-carved stamp with pigment inks. The text was created with stamps and pigment inks. The book was made in January of 2021 at the University of Alabama. 1/1
